How to Trade in gold and invest in gold
Gold price has fallen in the first two months of this year. At the beginning of the year the view was bullish. Sharp rise in global bond yields and every growing interest in bitcoin and crypto currencies are the reason why gold prices have fallen in the first two months of this year.
Gold for investment has to be done in three ways (a) Physical gold (b) Gold exchange traded funds (ETF) and (c) Sovereign gold bonds for Indians (as and when they are issued). One should not worry if his investment period in gold is over one year. Gold is never invested for a quick return and a very high return. Investment return expectations have to be very low for gold.
Gold futures trading and investing attracts short term punters. It is better to trade in the technical for short term traders in gold futures. I am against investing in gold in gold futures. One can use options for invest in gold but not futures. Gold futures should be purely for speculation and trading. News comes and goes. It is not easy to segregate which news will impact gold price and which will not impact. Futures traders should trade in the technical.
It is your money. Before investing in gold or anywhere always determine your own risk taking ability. No investment is safe for the short term and medium term in a post pandemic world. There is endless money in the world. The chase for higher returns has resulted in very high volatility.
